How you can help support Morris Theatre DC!
Morris Theatre DC has existed since 2022, and it has always been a one-guy operation. I see the show, I write the review, I coded this website, and I designed everything on it. All this with no ads, no sponsored posts, and no paywalls!
But as it has grown, so too have the costs to host it! So I've reluctantly opened it up to optional support. If you'd like to support me, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or something via Ko-fi; but there still will not be any exclusive content or "member benefits", just the good feeling of supporting independent theatre journalism in the DMV :)
Where would this money go?
- Hosting and the domain
- The site, the database behind every review and score, and this website itself. Since traffic keeps growing, my hosting is hitting some limits, pushing me into the dreaded "paid" tier.
- Tickets
- First off, do not give me money primarily for tickets. Full transparency: I am fortunate enough to see most of my shows via comps, so please for the love of God spend that money on a ticket for yourself!!! But here and there I do still buy tickets, so this would go towards seeing even more shows.
- Getting there
- I take transit/bike to 99% of my shows, but every now and then I am forced to drive or take the train. You probably know how expensive Amtrak can get...
How can I help support it if I'm unable to contribute?
- Send a review to someone deciding what to see this weekend.
- Follow along on Instagram.
- Tell your out-of-town friends that the theatre in DC is popping. You know what's cooler than seeing Wanted, Mexodus, or Schmigadoon in New York? Telling everyone you already saw it in DC before it blew up.
- Tell me what I'm missing! As one person I cannot catch everything: morristheatredc@gmail.com.
- But the best way to show support? Buy a ticket to a show. I can't review things that don't exist. Theatres need the money much more than me these days!
